Started her career in multi-national corporations, with extensive regional business travels, Jackie relocated to Paris working with the European and global team to drive business. Her expatriate experience of embracing difference, changes and stress in a new environment and having to integrate to a foreign language space, prepared her to work with people from different nationalities and cultures; allowing her to work with colleagues and clients from diverse backgrounds and identities, with greater understanding and empathy towards happiness and success in life and career. Transited successfully to the helping and education industry in Singapore by first taking the leadership role of building the career coaching team, creating training kits for individual and group coaching incorporated self-assessment tools; provision of career coaching and counselling to students in Institute of Higher Learning (IHL); designed & delivered training for students . She drove employment rate of the assigned schools, successfully placed many students in reputable companies and roles where students did not specialized these skills in their degree. Her clients benefited from her warm and positivity approach in career coaching and counseling.
Jackie is a strong advocate for mindfulness-based interventions, which is evidence-based and research supported for a holistic integrative approach to support the body and mind bi-directional top-down and bottom-up treatment. Mindfulness practice strengthens prefrontal cortex to improve cognition functioning, and helps to return to the safe space especially for client with trauma trapped in the body. As a mindfulness practitioner, Jackie is skillful in helping clients to apply mindfulness to increase awareness and to access to inner resources and strengths. She also has strong interest in the treatment of trauma using somatic psychology, polyvagal theory, neurobiology, attachment theory, EMDR and IFS application while using mindfulness as a base to help client skillfully returns to the window of tolerance. Jackie is also a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional Level 2 (CCTP-II) Practitioner.
Prior experience in Family Service Centre placed her in the best position to understand and empathize clients from underprivileged families, couple, children, aged population on wide range of issues like anger management, depression, extramarital affairs, goal setting, parenting, relationships, unemployment destress, and career transition and development.
Providing group counselling and psycho education services at the Singapore Prison Service as a volunteer since 2013, the various topics Jackie covers include substance addiction, society integration, anger management, informed decision making, self-awareness and mindfulness. Jackie was presented the Singapore Prison Service 10 Year Long Service Award in 2023.
Her diverse background and experience have enriched her counseling and psychotherapy approaches to craft out individualised treatment plan to meet her clients'needs.
Jackie also provides clinical supervision for counselor in training during the practicum (will enjoy a substantial reduced rate) and counselor clocking hours for CMSAC registration. She is a James Cook University Singapore approved Placement Supervisor.
